Hawaii Medical Institute’s internships and externships provide our students an
opportunity to have on-the-job training while earning course credit.
What is learned in the classroom is applied on the job. Students are
able to work in their chosen career field.
Internships and
externships generally begin during the student’s second quarter
of study and end upon completion of their program. In many cases,
students are hired directly from their internship/externship.
This is an important
part of each student’s job training preparation. Students are
“coached” throughout their internship/externship by the
Job Placement staff to prepare them for full-time work.
Students may select an
internship/externship at a site of their own choosing or may select a
site that the college offers. Some of those sites are listed below:
- Straub Clinic and Hospital
- Kapiolani Medical Center for Women and Children
